How it is worked out
Most new freelancers divide a salary by 40 hours a week and undercharge. You will not bill 40 hours: admin, sales and gaps between clients eat a lot of the week. Twenty to thirty billable hours is common.
This calculator grosses your income up for tax, adds your business costs, and divides by the hours you will really bill after time off. That is your floor. Charge above it to leave room for slow months.
