How it is worked out

Add up everything the group paid for together, then divide by the number of people. That is each person's fair share. Anyone who paid more than their share is owed the difference; anyone who paid less owes it.

Rather than everyone paying everyone, this page matches the biggest debt to the biggest credit first, which settles the group in the fewest transfers.
